If you follow me on Snapchat (which you totally should, FYI) then you’ll know that I went to the amazing Christmas party in Voodou Liverpool last week, and now I want to tell you all about it!
First of all, let me give a huge shoutout to Allie and all of the team at Voodou for a fab night. I enjoyed a glass of prosecco, got ma hurrr did, had red sparkles added to my lips and walked away with one of the coolest goody bags ever, so as you can tell they absolutely spoilt us rotten!
I’m ashamed to say that prior to this event I had never actually been inside Voodou before and I had no idea what I was missing out on. Upstairs is an amazing open, casual space that makes you feel right at home. There’s an array of enticing products on display (guess who’ll be going there to buy her dry shampoo from now on?!) and all of the stylists are super friendly and approachable. Downstairs gets cooler again, where the makeup station (aka heaven) resides and hair extensions take place. Essentially, Voodou is one of the coolest places in Liverpool and having visited, it’s easy to see why they’re always jam packed with appointments, and why people travel from all over the country to get their hair done there.
This event was held in the Colour Specialist salon on Bold Street, but Voodou have several salons across the city including a men’s barbers shop. They also work closely with Redken, one of my FAVE haircare brands and personally I think that connection speaks for itself; one of NYC’s top brands with Liverpool’s edgiest salon, what more could you want for your hair?!
But Redken isn’t the only amazing brand that you can get in Voodou. The Hippy Club hair extensions and haircare products are also available in this beaut salon and it was amazing to have some of these products used in my hair to try them for myself. My absolute fave (from the range, and my fave hair product right now) is the Naked Hippy Invisible Dry Shampoo which stylist Liam used on my hair after curling it to add volume and texture. I will be doing a full review on this product but one of the main reasons I love it is because it’s talc free, meaning that there’s no white/ grey residue left in your hair when you use it!
One of my favourite things about going to events like this, especially local events, is meeting fellow bloggers. It’s amazing being in the company of people who just get it; the struggle of trying to snapchat in public, the nightmare that comes with taking blog photos when there’s bad lighting, the inevitable tears when you get a boss photo that doesn’t fit with your insta theme *sighs*. And Voodou definitely catered for all of our blogging needs, with a cute ring light set up (SO. MANY. SELFIES) and by creating an atmosphere that was so casual and carefree that we were snapping and chatting to our little hearts content. I couldn’t possibly tell you about all of the bloggers I saw at the event and why I love them (trust me, we’d be here all day) but I do want to give a shoutout to all of the bloggers I saw there, you’re all truly amazing!
If I haven’t already convinced you that Voodou is the place to be, then maybe some of the amazing offers they do will help convince you. They offer 20% off for students (can I get an amen?!) and Frizz Free Wednesdays (let’s be honest, we all need that right now with this rain). There’s also some snazzy Black Friday deals coming up so make sure you keep your pretty eyes peeled!
I feel like I could sit here all day and chat about why I loved this event and why I love Voodou, but then I would never get it published and you’d never get to read about why I love them. So let me cut myself off and finish by telling you that if you’re in Liverpool, you have to treat yo’self to a trip to Voodou. It doesn’t have to be anything cray, go and get your hair curled and have a good natter to the stylists. Go and up your makeup game with some glitter lips from the amazing Elizabeth. Just go and visit this amazing salon, you won’t regret it!
Thanks so much for reading
