If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ve probably know that I’m a (huge) fan of NARS Cosmetics, and that I pretty much live for a good liquid lipstick. That being said, I’m sure you can all imagine my delight when NARS announced that they were releasing liquid lipsticks as part of their summer range; I’m pretty sure that I actually screamed.
Now it doesn’t matter how hard I try, I can never resist a visit to my local NARS counter, and about 10 minutes in to my most recent visit, I had spotted the liquid lipsticks and was determined to walk away with one.
Starting with colour choice, these highly pigmented, limited edition “Lip Covers” come in four different shades but I chose “Overheated” which is described on the NARS website as a “Deep Dusty Rose”
I chose this because to me it is the perfect colour. It looks amazing when paired with a bold eye choice, but it also adds a little je ne sais quoi to a simple makeup look. I also feel very “Kylie Jenner” when wearing this shade; the colour reminds me of those that shot to fame when she first debuted her glamorous big lips!
As for the formula, as per usual, NARS did not disappoint. This does not dry to a matte finish which is unusual for liquid lipsticks, but instead they remain somewhat glossy on the lips without being tacky. I’m not going to lie and say that I was instantly keen on this, in fact I was extremely sceptical, but now I find that this is my most comfortable liquid lipstick formula! My lips never feel dry throughout the day, it is extremely long wearing and even when it does need touching up after eating, I love the fact that these lipsticks fade evenly so there is no cakey-ness when you do re-apply.
I do own several NARS lip liners but none of them are the right colour to accompany this colour, and so I’ve been switching between Milani’s Colour Statement Liner in Spice and NYX’s Retractable Lip Liner in Sand Beige. I do not have a preference as both of these work really well with the NARS formula and colour, the only thing I will say is that if you prefer more of a creamy liner, the NYX one will be best for you!
(Please excuse my hand in this photo *insert tears emoji*
Moving on to price point, these liquid lipsticks are at the higher end of the scale at £21. Personally, I don’t think that this is unreasonably given the pigmentation, formula and longevity of the lipstick and I am hoping to try some of the other colours.
I hope you have enjoyed reading this post, please do let me know if you’ve liked it! I am working on a post about my opinions on all of the different liquid lipsticks that I have tried so if you are new to liquid lips keep an eye out for that!
Thank you so much for reading,
